Let's Do It Together

Who We Are

The South Florida Veterans Affairs Foundation for Research and Education, Inc. (SFVAFRE) is a non-profit corporation (NPC) associated with the Miami VA Healthcare System, Orlando VA Healthcare System, and the West Palm Beach A Healthcare System.

It was originally established in May of 1990 to support research service at the Miami VA Healthcare System as a flexible funding mechanism for the conduct of, and to facilitate functions related to the conduct of, approved research and education at the VA medical centers. It is a self-sustaining Internal Revenue Service designated non-profit 501(c) (3) corporation that derives its administrative operational funding from fees, donations and investment interest.

Our Strength

The strength of SFVAFRE lies in its ability to understand and quickly respond to the unique needs of the research community. SFVAFRE is especially useful to investigators in the hiring of clinical research coordinators, research assistants or other personnel, purchasing equipment or supplies and managing travel funds.

SFVAFRE attempts to be as flexible and non-restrictive as possible, while meeting its obligations as a non-profit organization. The Board of Directors consists of individuals with an extensive background in healthcare and research.

Clinical Research

SFVAFRE supports investigators who have conducted hundreds of clinical trials in a variety of therapeutic areas. Our affiliated medical centers and their investigators have the experience and resources to perform clinical drug trials in animal models as well as inpatient and outpatient pre-clinical, Phase I, II, III, and IV trials and outcomes research.
